Welcome to CETAPS Talks, a series of biannual discussions hosted by the Centre for English, Translation, and Anglo-Portuguese Studies (CETAPS) in Lisbon. We are thrilled to offer a unique opportunity for you to engage with leading experts in the fields of English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies and related subjects. Each session will feature a distinguished speaker, who will share his or her knowledge and perspectives, followed by an interactive debate allowing attendees to exchange ideas and ask questions.

The first speaker of CETAPS Talks is Lane Greene, author of the Johnson column in The Economist. He has written about the English language, translation, artificial intelligence, and other topics. He is responsible for the new edition of The Economist‘s style guide (to be published soon) and has two published books about the English language: You Are What You Speak and Talk on the Wild Side.
The lecture is titled English Usage in the 21st Century. Lane Greene will discuss with the NOVA FCSH community ideas about the current use of the English language.
